FOX EXPANDS OSCILLATOR LINE WITH NEW COST-SAVING LOW VOLTAGE SERIES INCORPORATING LVDS
Fort Myers, FL, May 2004 – Fox Electronics, America’s leading supplier of frequency control products, has broadened its extensive line of crystal oscillators with a new cost-saving series that offers significantly reduced noise and amplitude by incorporating low voltage differential signaling (LVDS).  The new F4700/F4710 Series is ideal for use in a variety of high speed digital signaling applications, including the transfer of video, 3-D graphics, and photo-realistic image data from cameras to PCs and printers, through LAN, phone, and satellite systems and ultimately into home set top boxes and digital VCRs.

Current solutions to move high-speed digital data across very short and very long distances typically consume too much power, generate too much noise, and are extremely expensive. The new cost-effective oscillator series helps to lower power consumption and reduce noise of the overall data transfer system.

LVDS enables the oscillators to automatically impedance-match signals to the digital network, allowing for the synchronized timing of digital circuits. This reduces the number of components needed in a system, as well as the overall system cost, since the signal conversions are done automatically and converters typically used are no longer required.

The new oscillators, which are available in supply voltages of 3.3 V ±5% (F4700 series) and 2.5 V ±5% (F4710 series), offer a differential output voltage of 0.247 V to 0.454 V, with 0.33 V being typical.  Frequency stabilities are ±100 ppm, ±50 ppm, ±25 ppm, and ±20 ppm.  Standard frequency range is 70 MHz to 170 MHz, with frequencies up to 250 MHz available upon request.  Standard operating temperature is -10°C to +70°C (14°F to 158°F), with an optional -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to 185°F) range available for most models.  The new series measures an industry-standard 7 x 5 mm and storage temperature is -55°C to 125°C (-67°F to 257°F).

As with all Fox ‘F’ Series oscillators, the new F4700 Series is available in bulk quantities or on a 2,000-unit tape and reel for automatic assembly systems.

Pricing for a new ±100 ppm F4700 oscillator at 212.50 MHz starts at $15.95 per unit in quantities of 10,000.
